The Perfect Cat Eye Glam: A Step-by-Step Guide ft. Natasha Denona’s Retro Glam Palette
The cat eye is a makeup classic for a reason: it lifts the eye, adds drama, and creates a sultry, almond shape. But sometimes, a stark black liquid liner can feel a bit too harsh or intimidating to apply perfectly.
In her recent tutorial, Natasha Denona shares her secret to the "perfect" glamorous cat eye. The twist? She doesn't use liquid liner at all. Instead, she builds depth and shape using the luxurious shadows from her Retro Glam Palette.
This technique creates a softer, smokier, and infinitely more wearable version of the cat eye that transitions beautifully from day to night.

The Palette: Vintage Vibes, Modern Formula
The Retro Glam Palette is the star of this look. Its unique color story combines muted sage greens with cool-toned dusty pinks and sparkling metallics. This combination allows for a look that is colorful yet grounded and sophisticated.
Step-by-Step: The Retro Glam Cat Eye
1. Create the Lifted Shape (The Transition)
Natasha starts by establishing the shape of the eye.
Using a fluffy blending brush, take the light, matte sage green shade (Sage).
Apply this through the crease, but crucially, blend it upwards and outwards toward the tail of the brow. This immediate "upward sweep" is the foundation of the lifted cat-eye effect.
2. Define the Wing with Shadow
Instead of reaching for an eyeliner pen, Natasha uses shadow to create the wing. This is easier to control and much more forgiving.
Switch to a smaller, more tapered brush and pick up a deeper, cooler-toned matte green or grey-green (Faye).
Concentrate this color on the outer corner of the eye, stamping it into a "V" shape and dragging it outwards to form a soft wing. Blend the edges into the lighter transition shade so there are no harsh lines.
3. Brighten the Lid
To make the outer wing pop, the lid needs to be bright.
Using a flat brush, pat a matte, light pink shade (Holly) all over the mobile eyelid, stopping where the dark outer wing begins. This creates a soft "cut crease" effect without needing concealer.
4. Add the "Glam" Factor
It wouldn’t be a Natasha Denona look without her signature sparkle.
Take a shimmering metallic pink shade (Flutter) and press it onto the center of the eyelid. The light-reflecting particles will draw attention to the middle of the eye, making it look rounder and more awake against the smoky wing.
5. Intensify and Define
To truly make it a "cat eye," you need definition right at the lash line.
Using a small, angled liner brush or a tiny pencil brush, take the deepest, darkest shade in the palette (like the dark forest green, Oz).
Press this color right into the upper lash line, thickening it as you reach the outer corner to sharpen and intensify the wing you created earlier.
6. Balance the Lower Lash Line
Whatever you do on top, mirror on the bottom for a cohesive look.
Smudge the lighter green shades along the lower lash line.
Add a touch of the shimmering pink to the center of the lower lash line to open up the eye.
Finish with a bright, sparkling highlighter in the inner corner.
Why We Love This Technique
This eyeshadow-as-liner approach is brilliant for several reasons:
It's Forgiving: If your wing isn't perfect, you can easily blend it out with a fluffy brush.
It's Softer: The look is sultry and smoky rather than graphic and stark.
It's Long-Lasting: Natasha’s matte formulas are intensely pigmented and grip the skin, ensuring your cat eye doesn't fade or smudge throughout the day.
