HOODED EYELIDS
The most common question that I get asked is how to sculpt hooded eyes. This occurs when the upper eyelid partially or completely covers the center eyelid, reducing the visible space for eyeshadow. There's mainly one trick that you have to follow to achieve the perfect sculpted, dramatic smokey look each time.
#NDPROTIP Always apply a medium or transition eyeshadow above the eye fold to create the illusion of a lifted eyelid while your eyes are open.
STEP 1
Define the crease above the fold with shade MEDIUM.
#NDPROTIP: Keep your eyes open.
STEP 2
Highlight the brow bone with shade FAIR.
STEP 3
Blend shade LIGHT to create a transition between the MEDIUM and FAIR shades.
STEP 4
Brighten the inner 2/3 of the eyelid with shade FAIR, building it up until the shade MEDIUM that is placed above the fold.
STEP 6
Define the upper lash line and outer 1/3 of the lower lash line with shade BLACK.
STEP 7
Diffuse the outer corner with shade DEEP to connect the lash line with shade MEDIUM that is placed above the fold, creating the perfect lift.
STEP 8
Smoke out the lower lash line with shade MEDIUM.
mature hooded eyelids
Effortlessly define and lift mature hooded eyelids for a more open and refreshed look. I recommend using mainly medium and dark shades on the upper eyelid and avoiding light eyeshadows which tend to emphasize texture, making the eyelids appear more droopy.
#NDPROTIP For seamless, airbrushed results on mature eyes, gently press the eyeshadows onto the eyelids, instead of using swiping motions.
STEP 1
Cover the entire eyelid with shade DEEP, blending it into the crease and lower lash line.
STEP 2
Diffuse the crease and the lower lash line with shade MEDIUM and then with shade LIGHT.
STEP 3
Brighten the brow bone with shade FAIR.
STEP 4
Deepen the upper and lower lash lines, as well as the outer corner with shade BLACK.
STEP 5
Brighten the waterline using the WORK & SET + CREAM EYELINER in shade NUDE for a more open appearance.
SMALL EYES
The goal when sculpting small eyes is to create the illusion of larger, more open eyes by focusing darker eyeshadows on the upper and lower lash lines and smudging upwards using medium eyeshadows for a smokey effect. Then, adding a light eyeliner on the waterline to complete this effect.
STEP 1
Define the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line with shade MEDIUM, starting from the outer corner of the eye and blend towards the center lower lash line with shade LIGHT.
STEP 2
Apply shade MEDIUM across the eyelid, building the shade up above the eye fold.
#NDPROTIP With your eyes open, check that the shade passes above your eye fold.
STEP 3
Diffuse the shade MEDIUM with shade LIGHT using tapping motions in a C shape, going back and forth.
STEP 4
To emphasize the upper lash line, press shade BLACK between the roots of the lashes, starting from the outer corner to the most inner lash, avoiding the inner V. Then, blend with shade DEEP to soften.
DEEP SET EYES
Define and enhance deep set eyes by adding soft definition without emphasizing their natural depth. Strategically applying light shades into the deepest areas and using dark shades to frame the eyes is the ultimate key to give them more prominence.
STEP 1
Blend shade MEDIUM on the outer corner of the eyelid and onto the most prominent area of the lower brow bone, avoiding going into the deep crease.
STEP 2
Use shade LIGHT to blend.
STEP 3
Press shade FAIR onto the inner and center eyelid, as well as into the crease.
STEP 4
Emphasize the upper lash line and outer corner with shade DEEP.
STEP 5
Smoke out the upper and lower lash lines with shade MEDIUM.
STEP 6
Apply shade BLACK to the upper lash line.
